Clifton, NJ – July 24, 2012 – The OritaniBank Charitable Foundation has awarded a financial assistance grant to Zoe’s Place Home in Garfield.
Established in 2003, Zoe’s Place provides a safe, supervised homelike environment for homeless teen mothers, giving them the time and space to develop skills and competencies needed to become self-sufficient and independent.
“OritaniBank has been a proud supporter of Zoes Place for a number of years in their efforts to assist teen mothers,” said Kevin J. Lynch, President of the OritaniBank Charitable Foundation and Chairman, President and CEO of Oritani Bank. “Last year, our foundation helped Zoe’s Place with the construction of their Garfield facility. Our current grant funding will help continue their efforts to directly improve the lives of teen moms and their children.”
Zoe’s Place was established as a non-profit in 2003, but the actual home was opened in June 2011. The home has a capacity for five mothers and their children. In addition to meeting the critical need for education, job skills and support services that will guide teen mothers into self-sufficiency, Zoe’s Place operates a helpline 365 days a year that provides information, advocacy and direct emergency services like food and baby supplies.
