OritaniBank Charitable Foundation Awards Office of Concern Food Pantry at St. Cecilia with $10,000 Grant

Township of Washington, N.J. (October 15,2018) – The OritaniBank Charitable Foundation recently awarded $10,000 to the Office of Concern Food Pantry, a charitable organization located in Englewood that is dedicated to serving the less fortunate throughout New Jersey.

The grant will specifically benefit the yearly budget of the Nutrition Plus Program, which is dedicated to reinforcing eating habits towards the consumption of healthier foods. The grant will allow the program to offer fresh fruits, vegetables, dairy products and lean meets to its weekly offerings. The program is dedicated to 900 families around New Jersey, and aims to provide healthy food options for underprivileged families.

“Offering our community the proper nutrition is important,” said Kevin J. Lynch, President of the OritaniBank Charitable Foundation and Chairman, President and CEO of Oritani Bank. “We are happy to donate to the Nutrition Plus Program at the Office of Concern Food Pantry, where everyone in the family can eat healthy produce. The program has helped our community increase the importance of health and wellness,” he continued.

“The grant from OritaniBank Charitable Foundation has allowed the Nutrition Plus Program to purchase fresh fruits, vegetables, and lean meats so that we can go beyond the usual food-pantry offerings, supplementing them with foods high in nutrition and low in calories. We think these are especially needed today,” said George McKenna, director of the Office of Concern Food Pantry.

The Nutrition Plus Program began eight years ago. In the past, the Office of Concern Food Pantry concentrated on the weekly distribution of non-perishable food items such as canned goods, cereals, and rice. In recent years, however, in order to increase the nutritional quality of their food, they created new programs offering poultry, dairy products and, most recently, fruits and vegetables.
