OritaniBank Charitable Foundation Donates $50,000
to Family Promise of Bergen County
Township of Washington, NJ April 12, 2011 The OritaniBank Charitable Foundation has awarded a $50,000 grant to Family Promise of Bergen County in support of the organizations Day Center for temporarily homeless families. Soon to be relocated to the United Methodist Church of Ridgewood, the Day Center will serve as a daytime home base for families staying overnight at local host congregations as part of the Family Promise Network emergency shelter program.
OritaniBank Charitable Foundations grant will help cover the costs of renovating the Day Center and transporting the families to and from the center. The center provides the families with access to telephones, computers and shower and laundry facilities before and after work and school. The families meet with case managers who work closely with them to find affordable housing and acquire training to obtain better employment.

Formerly known as the Interreligious Fellowship, Family Promise has provided shelter and services for working homeless families in Bergen County for 25 years. The Family Promise Network, a program of the non-denominational non-profit organization consists of 22 host congregations offering clean, safe overnight lodging to homeless families and 70 support congregations providing food, linen and additional volunteers. Family Promise helps families transition back to self-sufficiency through an intensive case management program and an array of services including financial literacy training, debt management, family mentoring, scholarships, childcare, youth development and a summer ending day camp.
